SUMMARY:Showcase session from Finland: Edible Forest Garden
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the showcase session to hear the facts about edible forest gardens!\nWhat is an edible forest garden? Why and how can you set one up?\nAn edible forest garden is a layered and species-rich garden that mimics the principles of a forest ecosystem. It provides food and other benefits while improving the environment. \nAs the name suggests\, an edible forest garden consists mainly of useful plants: edible trees\, shrubs\, vines and perennial herbaceous species. Supporting plants are often planted to manage and support the various functions and the overall garden. \nWe also take a look at a case study on AhlmanEdu. \nThe lecturer for this session is Joel Rosenberg.\nJoel holds an MA in environmental art and works as a nature and wilderness guide. He has explored commercial forest gardens in England\, Sweden\, Denmark and other countries and has been running plant-related courses and tours since 2009. He is also the author of a book on growing nuts in Finland. \nAfter Joel’s lecture\, there will be time for questions and discussion from the audience. \nSo come and hear about the exciting world of edible gardens! \nTime: 25.10.2022\, 11:30 CET\nPlace: Teams\nRegistration: Registration via this link by 24.10.\nYou will automatically receive a link to your email – please also check your spam folder. \nThis showcase is brought to you by the European Platform for Urban Greening. If you have any questions\, please contact: Kaisa Koskelin\, kaisa.koskelin@ahlman.fi \nP.S. In summer 2023\, an edible forest garden course will be held in Finland\, at AhlmanEdu\, led by Joel.
